Teaching Bio

Brad McGoey’s journey to becoming a music teacher started simply, by giving lessons to his friends, with the sole purpose of getting them to a point where they could then jam with him and others. An injury forced him to settle in Stratford Ontario from 2012 to 2014, where he got his first official music instructor job at Long and McQuade, which grew into him teaching at 2 locations, building up a large and diverse group of students, and developing his “make music fun” teaching style. From 2015 to 2018 Brad taught at the Regent Park School of Music in Toronto, starting as an eager volunteer before being hired on, and eventually growing to lead guitar groups and ensembles, teach private lessons to kids with special needs, and help develop several programs, including Pianimators and RPSM’s collaboration with Turning Point Youth Services.  While living in Toronto he also taught a seniors ukulele group at Oak Ridges Ridges Community Centre, which grew from 1 class of eight students to 3 classes with over 25 students.

Recently, Brad has completed a master’s degree in Community Music from Wilfrid Laurier University and relocated to West Hants County in Nova Scotia.
